This was the stern warning from Police Commissioner Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho to all those participating in the marijuana, methamphetamine and cocaine business.
He made the comment in the wake of numerous arrests and successful raids by police across the country over the past 14 months.
“We have managed to gather enough information over time that we have digested into intelligence that we have been able to act upon,” he said. “It has been a painstaking exercise for us but now we are finally getting into it.”
Brig-Gen Qiliho said the huge spike in successful operations was driven by the determination of the Fiji Police Force to rid the nation of the illicit drug scourge.
“We have decided to work really hard because we have started to see the impacts of drugs in society and its linkages to other criminal activity.
“So we are acting harder now based on more credible information that we have received.”
The police commissioner said he and his officers were driven by the impact drugs were having on young people across the country.
“Our neighbouring countries are suffering from this in their societies and we don’t want Fiji to go down the same path.”
