The Vuda Blues rugby 7s team is gearing up for the much-anticipated Mataso 7s, set to kick off this weekend. While they’ve been away from 7s rugby for a considerable stretch, they are leaving no stones unturned in their quest for success.

Team manager Sakeasi Keli is guiding a spirited group of young players who are competing in the senior division.

The Vuda Blues’ recent appearance in the Premier Division final of the Lautoka Rugby competition has provided them with a valuable preparation ground.

Keli says, “We recently played in the final of the Premier Division of the Lautoka Rugby competition, so it’s a good preparation ground for us.

“The experience gained on that premier stage has fueled their drive to excel in the Mataso 7s.”

The Vuda Blues team is closely intertwined with the Wadigi 7s team, sharing a strong brotherly connection.

Many of the players hail from Wadigi Rugby Club, a testament to the deep camaraderie and shared passion for the sport that binds these players together.

As they step onto the 7s field once more, the Vuda Blues are not just a team; they’re a symbol of resilience and unity.

The Mataso 7s promises to be a stage where their skills, honed through intense competition, will shine bright, and their spirit will ignite the crowd with the fire of brotherhood and determination.

The tournament will be played tomorrow and Saturday at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
