JASA Veremalua could possibly the next National 7s player leaving our shores to sign up for an overseas contract.
The livewire forward was part of the national team that won gold medal at the Rio Olympic Games.
The Korotogo lad said he had received rugby offers from a club in the United Kingdom as well as a few rugby clubs in Australia.
“Right now Ben (Ryan) is just helping me around the whole process, if it comes through that’s an advantage for me and if it doesn’t, then I’ll try again later,” Veremalua said.
“But even if I do go away to play for overseas clubs, my love for my country will always be there, if ever I’m needed to come back to represent my country I will always come back.”
He said while the pinnacle for any rugby player was to represent their country during international tournaments, in Fiji donning the white jumper is done because of national pride.
Veremalua was also awarded the officer of the Order of Fiji and has dedicated the medal to his parents the late father Osea Vakatalesau and mother Talica Salalevu.
“I’m so happy receiving this medal, this is one of my happiest moments and I know my mother will be very proud of me and if my dad was alive he would too,” Veremalua said.
Meanwhile national 7s rugby team manager Ropate Kauvesi, players Leone Nakarawa and Semi Kunatani were also awarded with the medals in a ceremony by the president Jioji Konrote at Government House yesterday.
