Aruna Devi, who makes a living selling vegetables at the Namaka market, says the supply of vegetables to the market has been affected because of the lockdown.

“Business is very bad as not many people are coming to the market these days and we are no longer getting a variety of vegetables from the suppliers as well,” she said.

Ms Devi said some vendors no longer came to the market as the second wave of the pandemic had taken a toll on their business.

“I come to the market on a daily basis as I have no other option, if I stay at home, my family’s livelihood would be put on hold.”

The Navakai, Nadi, resident said on good days, she could make as much as $50 but these days, that figure had dropped significantly.
