FIJI’S Minister for Infrastructure Jone Usamate is visiting Koro island today and on his itinerary is to see the Koro Bio-Fuel factory that is no longer in operation.

The Minister was today briefed on the status of the machines and equipment and has advised his officials from the Department of Energy to look at ways on how they can resuscitate it.

Mr Usumate also advised the officials to come up with alternative ways on how the Koro Bio-Fuel factory can still be utilised while waiting for the consistent supply of coconuts that will consistently provide the necessary amount needed.

The copra plantation on Koro has been struggling since Severe Tropical Cyclone devastated plantations in 2016.

The industry is expected to be back in full operation in the next 3-4 years.
