THE USA All-Stars secured three crucial points in the Flick Hygiene Pacific Community Cup with a 1-0 victory over NZFFI Auckland All-Stars on Day Two of the competition at Churchill Park yesterday.
Both teams battled fiercely in the first half, which ended in a goalless stalemate after 30 minutes of intense play. However, the USA All-Stars regrouped in the second half and raised their intensity, leading to Javies Mariana scoring the decisive goal in the 35th minute.
The USA All-Stars defended resolutely to maintain their lead, sealing the win and bringing their total to four points on the tournament table after two days of competition.
Day One results Lautoka FC defeated Manukau All-Stars 4-2, NZFFI Auckland All-Stars edging Rewa FC 2-1, and AuFFI All-Stars securing a dramatic 2-1 win over Navua FC.
The opening match saw USA All-Stars and Labasa FC settle for a 1-1 draw.
In today’s fixtures the day starts at 3pm with Rewa FC facing USA All-Stars, followed by Navua FC taking on NZFFI Manukau All-Stars at 4.15pm.
Labasa FC goes head-to-head with NZFFI Auckland All-Stars at 5.30pm and the final match of the day sees Lautoka FC battling AuFFI Australia All-Stars at 6.45pm.
The tournament ends with the finals tomorrow.
