Two Fijians charged over massive Tavua cocaine bust

Two Fijian men are among six people charged in relation to a major cocaine seizure in Vatia, Tavua, last week.

Four Ecuadorian nationals and the two locals appeared before Magistrate Timoci Qaninauci at the Rakiraki Magistrates Court today over the seizure of 2,630 parcels of cocaine.

Those charged are Alejandro Juvenal Yagual Gonzalez (47), Luciano Enrique Mero Sanchez (47), Jonathan Javier Solorzano Bermello (30) and Ramon Isidro Vega Parraga (52).

Bainivalu Suguturaga is 24 years old and a resident of Veisaru, Ba.

32 year old Munendra is a carrier operator from Ba.

The four foreign nationals have been advised to seek legal counsel.

Bainivalu is represented by Filimoni Daveta, while Munendra will be represented by Mohammed Yunus.

All six accused have been further remanded and are scheduled to reappear at the Lautoka High Court on February 4.
