TUI Ba Ratu Filimoni Lagivala Nale is the newest traditional leader to champion the 4FJ campaign, urging his vanua to support the Government seasonal ban on all species of kawakawa and donu.

The ban period began in June and continues to the end of September.

He said he supported the ban because many in the district relied on fishing for their livelihood.

“I am thinking about those beyond this generation,” Ratu Filimoni said.

“We need to abide by what the Government has set out for us to do.”

Ratu Filimone is from the chiefly village of Sorokoba.

His district include the villages of Sorokoba, Sasa, Natunuku, Natalecake, Vadravadra, Vesaru and Koronubu.
