Late Bhagwan Ji Bhindi – SUPPLIED

National Federation Party (NFP) leader Biman Prasad has expressed sadness at the passing of Bhagwan Ji Bhindi, his former English teacher at Labasa College.

In a statement, Prof Prasad said Mr Bhindi taught him during his time at Labasa College when Amraiya Naidu was principal, describing him as a dedicated and disciplined educator who took his responsibilities seriously.

“He expected his students to work hard, and he gave his time to ensure that they understood their lessons,” Prof Prasad said.

“Many students passed through his classroom over the years and benefited from his commitment to their education.”

Prof Prasad said Labasa College, supported by teachers such as Mr Bhindi, played a key role in shaping generations of students from Vanua Levu, many of whom have gone on to serve in important roles in Fiji or contribute in various fields overseas.

“Their achievements reflect the strong foundation provided by teachers who were committed to their work,” he said.

He also noted that Mr Bhindi later served as a long-time principal at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School, continuing his contribution to education and youth development.

“I am sure that many former students of Labasa College, both in Fiji and abroad, will join me in mourning his passing and in acknowledging his contribution to their lives,” Prof Prasad said.
