The highly anticipated Micks Fiji Tours Vatulele 7s tournament is set to light Vatulele Island on December 19-20.
The tournament is set to bring rugby enthusiasts to celebrate the sport and the spirit of unity and progress on Vatulele.
Tournament director Vilive Qionikorolevu expressed pride in spearheading the event and said the tournament’s role was to foster youth development.
“It is both an honour and a privilege to have the major sponsor of this year’s Vatulele 7s tournament.
“This event is not just a celebration of rugby; it is a profound testament to the spirit of community, resilience, and the incredible potential of our young athletes,” he said.
Qionikorolevu highlighted the transformative power of grassroots rugby, calling it a unifying force that fosters teamwork, passion, and character development among youth.
“This initiative aims to enhance facilities that not only support athletes but enrich the entire community.
“We recognise that strong and resilient communities provide the best environment for sports to thrive, and we want to ensure that our local infrastructure reflects the heart and ambition of the Vatulele people.”
Funds raised from the tournament will go toward upgrading schools, sports fields, and youth training programs in the village, creating safe spaces for children to develop skills and pursue their dreams.
“Together, we can build a legacy, a legacy that inspires young boys and girls to dream big, to chase their goals, and to live healthy, active lives,” Qionikorolevu said.
