Three-try debutant confident

FIJI Rugby League’s latest sensation Etuate Qionimacawa is confident of a good Test against Canada in Hawaii on Saturday night (Fiji time).

After being in the limelight in his international debut for the Vodafone Fiji Bati with his hat-trick against Papua New Guinea earlier this year, the Suva-based player has been selected as assistant captain for the Fijian side.

Qionimacawa assists coach Josaia Rabele and skipper Simon Lomaloma.

“I’m grateful to the coach for giving me this responsibility. I realise that this is not an easy task and I am ready to assist our captain as we try to see that more resident players make the Fiji Bati team for the next Rugby League World Cup,” Qionimacawa said.

He said they would not take the Wolverines lightly because it would be the first for an all-local side to play in a Test.

“I believe our players had done the hard yards and are ready to play and come out winners.”
