THREE out of the eight registered political parties eligible to contest the 2018 General Election have filed their candidates’ nominations.

This was confirmed by Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem as the Fijian Elections Office (FEO) continued with preparations for the November 14 polls.

The FijiFirst party, National Federation Party and the Social Democratic Liberal Party have filed their nominations with the FEO.

“The National Federation Party just nominated its 51 candidates with the Fijian Elections Office (yesterday evening) and they produced a bank cheque which met the requirements of the nomination under the law,” Mr Saneem said.

“SODELPA has nominated as well. They have met the requirements.”

SODELPA general secretary Adi Litia Qionibaravi said the party now had space to do other things after their nominations were approved.

“Where to from here, we are going to strengthen our awareness and campaigns,” she said.

Adi Litia said the party was confident that their 51 candidates would make it through the candidate nominations stage to contest next month’s polls.
