Flanker Raikabula Momoedonu expects the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua to make the country proud when they take the Highlanders in the Super Rugby Pacific match at the ANZ Stadium in Suva on Saturday.
The Fijian Drua have won only one game in nine starts and is placed 11th on the points table above wooden spoon holders Moana Pasifika.
The 24-year-year flanker who previously played for Northland in the Bunnings National Provincial Championship (NPC) in New Zealand said it was a great feeling to be home for the first ever home fixture.
He said as a franchise they were feeling proud to be playing at home.
“This is a proud moment to play in front of our family which we do not have much of in Australia,” Momoedonu said.
“We are looking forward to it. It is another week of hard work for the preparations.
“We want to go out there and make our family and Fiji proud as well.
“The players are excited and we want all the fans to come out in numbers to support the team.
“We want to see all the smiling faces and hear their big cheers.”
Born in Viseisei, Momoedonu has come through the Fiji Rugby Union development program representing the Fiji under-20 team, the Fijian Warriors and Fijian Latui before moving to New Zealand.
Momoedonu said they wanted to see a full house this Saturday.
“The message to the fans is that this is your team,” he said.
The match will kick off at 4.35pm.
