HARD work, dedication, commitment and taking one step at a time is key for 24-year-old aspiring Fiji Airways Drua utility forward Apisai Tauyavuca.
He is preparing for the 2017 National Rugby Championship in Australia.
The Mabula, Cicia, Lau native Tauyavuca said he had always believed in whatever people would be sowing is what they would be reaping.
“If we work hard and believe that we serve a living God then he will definitely reward us for our hard work,” Tauyavuca said.
He had set his goal to be part of the Drua team at the beginning of this year’s rugby season and was thankful to the coaches and management of the team for selecting him.
“I believe the only way for a person to achieve any dream is through hard work, commitment and dedication also for me being part of this team is the fruit of all that.
Tauyavuca said his aim was to make it into the Drua team and from here he would be taking one step at a time, but he would be working on improving his performance in every game.
“I am blessed to be part of the 26-member squad that will be leaving for Australia to play Brisbane City. So right now the focus for me is getting the job done during this tour. And I want to dedicate my upcoming games to my family who have been my source of strength and inspiration.”
He also thanked his employer — the Fiji National Provident Fund chief executive officer Jaoji Koroi and manager member services Alipate Waqairawai for releasing him to be part of the team.
The former Queen Victoria School 2011 Coke Zero Deans trophy winner was also part of the recent HFC Bank Farebrother Challenge winning Suva side that beat Nadroga 24-23 earlier this year. Drua head coach Senirusi Seruvakula spoke highly of Tauyavuca, referring to him as a player with leadership qualities and has indicated that they would be using him in either at lock or flankers position during their tour.
