FIJI Airways Drua lock Apisai Tauyavuca has been ruled out of the National Rugby Championship for at least three weeks.
Tauyavuca injured his knee during the match against Melbourne Rising last Saturday.
Fiji Drua coach Senirusi Seruvakula said changes were expected for the home games against NSW Country and Perth Spirit.
Seruvakula said he was using the rotational policy so the players are not burnt out or sustain serious injuries in the championship.
“There will be some changes this week because of injuries,” he said.
“Apisai, our lock, is out for three to four weeks. So we need to bring in another lock in the team. Also I will need to make changes after two rounds. I can’t keep on playing the same team every week.
“I have to be smart with the players’ management and try out some new players to run on or be on the bench.”
Flying Fijians coach John McKee is expected to name his squad for the November Test series prior to the completion of the NRC. Senirusi said he could not afford injuries to his top players.
“Before the end of the NRC head coach John McKee will select his team,” he said.
“If five or six of the best players are injured, then the next set of players that come in may not have that much experience. I don’t want that to happen. I will start doing the changes this week and putting some new faces in the team.”
Fiji Drua will play NSW Country Eagles at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka at 3pm this Saturday.
