THE Tailevu Netball Association (TNA) has credited the players and supporters for a successful 2018 season.
President Nani Narayan said without the support from teams and the major sponsor, nothing could be achieved.
“We thank our major sponsor Sun Insurance for stepping in and supporting us in this year’s club competition,” Narayan said.
“We thank Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama for also helping us during the Netball Fiji inter-district competition held in Lautoka.
“This year we’ve seen a major improvement on the performance of all teams that participated in the IDC.
“Especially our under-18 grade with the help of Seini Sorocagi, we saw two of our players drafted in the national U19 squad.
“Our Senior B grade team also went up to the semi-finals against Suva with the help of Tokasa Osbourne who has been grooming the players for the past two years. Seeing their performance, we can say the players have improved enormously.”
Narayan said one of the major challenges TNA faced was the netball court at Vunivivi which sometimes was not authorised by the Nausori Town Council to be used.
“Our aim for next year’s competition is to groom more young players and make them better players in the future.”
TNA held its awards night at the Hong Kong Restaurant at Walu Bay on Friday night.
The overall winners were Island Sisters Netball Club while Litia Tamanitoakula won the Most Improved Player of the Year award.
The Best Player of the Year award went to Karalaini Vakurunaliwa of the Kuku Drifters team.
