SVC in jubilation

Swami Vivekananda College (SVC) celebrated its 75th years platinum jubilee last week.

Established in 1949, the school has provided quality learning to students who have walked through its doors.

With the theme “Celebrating 75 years of Youth Empowerment and Nation Building” the school has created a learning haven for students who seek knowledge and thrive for excellence.

To mark the platinum jubilee, the school invited the Education Assistant Minister, Iliesa Vanawalu as the chief guest.

“This Platinum Jubilee is a time for reflection for everyone in this institution,” Mr Vanawalu said.

“You must continue to steer this ship in the right direction. Give this celebration real meaning by upholding the values and achievements your institution is known for.

“SVC has been providing quality education service delivery to the young ones in this community and has been instrumental in the development of Malolo, Nadi and its surrounding settlements.

“These incredible 75 years is marked with a profound history and this celebration is a proud and significant occasion to reflect on the amazing accomplishments of this institution.”

The school has started its journey in 1949 as Shri Vivekananda High School with just 19 students.

“It warms my heart to see how far it has come since those early days. Today, the college proudly serves over 1,000 students, providing them with the education and support their need to thrive.”

Acknowledging the founders of SVC, Mr Vanawalu expressed his sincere appreciation for their vision and foresight in establishing the school, enriching the community by providing education to children.

Swami Rudrananda, A.D. Patel, Sadhu Kuppuswami, and the Sangam stalwarts played a crucial role in setting the pathway for the institution to achieve greatness.

“The theme for this celebration, Celebrating 75 Years of Youth Empowerment and Nation Building truly reflects the heart and soul of Swami Vivekananda College.

“I have no doubt that many gifted students have attended the college over the years and have excelled not only in academics, but also made a mark in creative and cultural activities.”

The school celebration was held at the school auditorium.
