GREAT comeback from the Suva FC team in the Digicel Super Women’s League competition, as they were able to overcome a 3-0 deficit at half time to secure a 3-3 draw against Tailevu Naitasiri at the Fiji FA grounds in Vatuwaqa yesterday.
The Tailevu Naitasiri side got off to a strong start in the first half, with goals from Timaima Ana, Ana Naivukivuki, and Katarina Nailele putting them ahead.
However, Suva fought back in the second half, with Penelope Pickering and Alisi Qereqeretabua scoring to level the score.
Despite the draw, Tailevu Naitasiri head coach Elvis Goundar expressed his disappointment with some of the referee’s decisions during the match.
He acknowledged the efforts of his team but emphasised the need to work on their defence.
“The girls have played well, but it was not a luck for us, the game was good we were leading 3-0 at half time, but unfortunately it all came to a draw,” said Goundar.
“Our defence was lacking in this match, that’s what we need to work on in our next match.
Goundar praised Suva as a tough opponent and commended both the players and parents for their dedication and support, especially considering it was exam week for the girls.
“I would like to thank the parents for letting their girls come out to play, as we know its exam week. Also like to thank the girls also for turning up to play.”
