A suspect threatened the Police officer after being stopped at the Nadonumai Roundabout last night for being in possession of illicit drugs.

Fiji Police Force said the suspect was travelling in a vehicle which was stopped at Nadonumai roundabout.

With the assistance of the K-9 Unit, Fiji Police Force found a clear plastic wrapper containing five dried branches and leaves suspected to be marijuana in the vehicle.

“Further search conducted at the suspect’s place has seen a discovery of a zip lock plastic bag containing loose dried leaves believed to be marijuana,” Police said in a statement.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Livai Driu said drug arrests continued everyday, and Police would continue this momentum throughout the festive season.

“We are targeting anyone that is suspected of drugs. We will be checking on all drug spots, checking on suspected vehicles and vessels that will be moving during this festive session,” ACP Driu said.

“We will continue to do surprise stop checks to vehicles and anyone we encounter to be suspicious. We are continuing with this drug war and we are calling on members of the public to support us in this fight.”

The suspect is currently in custody at Lami Police Station for further investigations.
