Supervise children at all times on jetties: MSAF
3 December, 2018, 5:30 pm
ALL adults are to supervise children at all times on jetties and only take children if they are to travel on board ships.
This was the advice from Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, Captain Philip Hill who is pleading to the members of the public to adhere to all safety messages as they head into the festive season.
Capt Hill said it is prudent that members of the traveling public be MSAF’s eyes and ears on the ground when traveling.
He said the safety of passengers and crew members are a priority as well as the protection of the marine environment.
Capt Hill stressed that checking of the weather forecast is a must before the start of any journey as individuals will be the judge when it comes to the weather bulletins.
He has reminded the travelling public to use the rubbish bins provided on board of all vessels and to not dump plastic bags into the sea.
The Acting Chief Executive Officer said heavy fines can be levied to those caught doing so.
