Special 7s event

THE HSBC World Sevens Series Wellington 7s this weekend will be a special one for Vodafone Fiji 7s forward Jasa Veremalua.

The lanky Nadroga man is on a mission to make this tournament the one to remember as he will be celebrating his two-year stint with the Fiji 7s team.

The soft spoken player said being selected to represent Fiji once again at Wellington was an achievement and had vowed to make this tour a memorable one.

“This tournament is special because it is where I made my debut for the Fiji 7s way back in 2013,” said Veremalua.

“We failed to win the title that year and this is something that will inspire me to lift my game this weekend.

“I am honoured and privileged to be back in the side and I will do my best in all the games.”

Veremalua said the side had prepared well for the competition and had faith in his teammates.

“We have a very good team and we will do our best to make the country proud.

“We also understand that the competition is getting tougher and we know what is expected of us.”

He said Fiji would not underestimate any team and had called on the people of Fiji to support the boys.

Veremalua also thanked the 7s team management for having faith in him and also his family members and loved ones for supporting him throughout his rugby career.
