Three members of the Social Democratic Liberal Party management board have been banned from taking part in the party’s affairs.
Party leader Viliame Gavoka said the decision was made yesterday following a board meeting at the Southern Cross Hotel in Suva.
The three are Adi Litia Qionibaravi, Ratu Tevita Komaisavai and Gilbert Vakalalabure.
They were present at the meeting venue but were not allowed into the meeting room.
They declined to comment when approached by the media yesterday.
Mr Gavoka said an investigative committee has been set up to look into allegations levied against the three.
When questioned on whether the three were supporting former party leader Sitiveni Rabuka, he said the investigation would determine it.
“They will be told that investigations will henceforth be taken, and again I re-emphasise that they’re still part of the party,” he said.
“It’s just that they cannot be active in party affairs right now for the reason that they can’t be serving two masters right now.
“An investigative committee has been set up by the management board to hear their version of it and they come back to the party but we have to take that action.”
Mr Gavoka said the issues discussed during the meeting were quite comprehensive and a lot of questions were also raised during the meeting.
“Presented a paper on the way forward for the general election, it is something that is required of the party leader to set in place the platform for the general election, and the paper was very well received.
“We shall be having a retreat in April to solidify all the plans that were laid out today so we are very positive about 2022.”
