A TOTAL of 700 bodyguard antibacterial cleansing bars were given by Punjas Group for schools in the Western Division.
This was revealed by the Punjas Group quality control manager Priya Kumar during the Global Handwashing Day held at the Girmit Hall in Lautoka yesterday.
Ms Kumar said the antibacterial cleansing bars were given to the Ministry of Health to distribute to schools to support the development of a local culture of handwashing.
“As an effective and affordable way to reduce preventable deaths of children and avoid illness,” she said.
“For several years now, Ocean Soaps Ltd has produced a variety of soaps.
“It has also built in its Navutu premises in Lautoka a world-class laboratory and testing facility, meeting the most demanding Australian certification standards.”
Ms Kumar said the company had developed a range of antibacterial cleansing bars to further the battle against bacteria.
“Bodyguard is a long-lasting cleansing bar, which contains an effective antibacterial agent and contains an antifungal agent.
“These active ingredients in Bodyguard cleansing bars make it an ideal way to improve personal hygiene and are especially effective in stopping the spread of germs through hand washing.”
Sixteen schools in Lautoka were part of the Global Handwashing Day commemoration organised by the Ministry of Health and Medical Services.
