Two Vodafone Super Deans titles are headed to Nasese as Suva Grammar School took out both the under-15 and 16 grades.
Their U16 team made the finals of the Deans for the first time since U14 and ended what became a perfect season with a 29-12 win over Lelean Memorial School to clinch the trophy.
Three first half tries to Ilimotama Jason, Josua Tawake and Koroi Saula set a solid foundation for Grammar as they led 19-7 at halftime.
Two more tries in the second half sealed it for the Lions despite a try to Davuilevu.
“It’s a big achievement for the team because we have been trying from U14,” team manager Evia Turaganivalu stated
“I guess they’ve matured being a junior team from U14 and 15.
“They learned a lot from the New Zealand tour and they showed what they’ve learnt from there.”
The team acknowledged the strong support system that has been the backbone of their team since they entered Deans rugby.
“We went for a tour to New Zealand and we give back all the glory to God because he’s the one that we bestowed our hope and trust on and I know that he gave us the strength.
“We’ve been together for three years and I’ve regarded them as my sons, I have five sons of my own and this is an additional 55,” she said.
Their U15 team had defeated Marist Brothers High School 31-24.
The school held a celebration for the two teams yesterday at its school hall in Nasese honouring the winners .
