HARDWORK was the recipe for the Sabeto Roosters’ success after the side scooped the top three awards during the Fiji National Rugby League awards night at Des Vos on the Park on Friday.
Coach Voate Naivalulevu was awarded with the coach of the year award while Timoci Naloto was chosen the captain of year for 2015.
Hardworking full-back Tevita Niusama received player of the year award.
“The players have worked hard and sacrificed a lot throughout the season through which we won these awards,” coach Naivalulevu said.
“There were a lot of commitments from the players and the officials.
“Our chief was also very important because everything we did we consulted him. We used to have meeting with him before every match.”
Naivalulevu, 47, had been coaching the club for the past four years as he was also part of the Fiji team trials for the 1995 Rugby League World Cup.
“I am happy with all the achievements the team had achieved today (Friday night). I want to defend the title and keep the winning streak.
“I formed this club in 2002 and that year I played too.
“Rugby league started in 1993 and I played that year and in 1995 I attended the trial for the 1995 Rugby League World Cup in England but I was injured.”
Meanwhile, FNRL major sponsor Vodafone Fiji Ltd’s ten years of contribution towards the sport was also recognised.
