Rotary Fiji said there was a co-ordinated response led by Ms Nand and Mr Niranjan, working closely with Fiji NDMO and the New Zealand government’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) through its high commission in Suva.

“RNZWCS co-ordinator Stuart Batty and District 9920 governor Gary Langford based in New Zealand are in regular communication
with Rotary Fiji for reports on damage, needs assessment to be able to co-ordinate humanitarian assistance required.”

Rotary Clubs and Rotarians around Fiji are working closely with NDMO on their assessments for the Central and Western regions to see how Rotary could also assist the affected regions Rotary Fiji and RNZWCS, based in Christchurch, have been providing humanitarian assistance to communities in Fiji over the past 15 years.

The program has been funded by the New Zealand government (MFAT) for a number of years.
