HOTELS and Airbnb accommodation in Nadi are expected to be fully booked in the lead-up to the UB40 concert featuring Ali Campbell The Big Love Tour and Katchafire scheduled for January 30.
Nadi Chamber of Commerce president Lawrence Kumar said a significant number of hotel rooms had already been booked by both local and overseas visitors.
“The projection for the UB40 and Katchafire concert looks quite promising,” Mr Kumar said.
“We have been speaking with many of our members in the hotel and tourism sector, and they have projected that room occupancy rates will be quite high during the week of January 30.
“Bookings have also been coming in well ahead of January 30.”
He said the internationally staged concert is expected to provide a major boost to economic activity in the Nadi township. “There will be a lot of economic growth, particularly in the transport and tax sectors.
“There will be increased demand for transportation, not only for local residents but also for international visitors coming to Fiji to experience the UB40 and Katchafire concert.”
He said micro, small and medium enterprises are also expected to benefit.
“A number of MSMEs will gain from this event, including food vendors and those producing merchandise such as UB40 T-shirts.”
“This concert is expected to generate significant economic activity, not only for the township of Nadi but for the country as a whole.”
Mr Kumar said businesses in Nadi have prepared well, drawing from the success of previous major events.
“We have come through the success of the two homecoming concerts in 2024 and 2025.”
