Fiji tourism experienced an unprecedented resurgence out of the Australian market after two significant announcements made earlier this month, says Rosie Holidays and Ahura Resorts Fiji managing director Tony Whitton.

He said Fiji’s announcement of borders reopening and fully vaccinated Australians being allowed quarantine-free travel out of New South Wales was a significant contributor to the resurgence.

“These two events triggered an unprecedented resurgence out of the Australian market with record sales of holiday packages,” he said.

He explained that Fiji was an ideal destination for Australians looking forward to travel out of their country.

“We are finding that many people took travel for granted,” he said. “But now they are realising after 18 months of lockdowns and families being separated, that travel offers this special gift of re-connection with those that you love. “We are seeing where we can have one booking that is booking four family bure.

“These are groups that are travelling with many generations of mum, dad, grandparents, and they have missed sharing birthdays, missed seeing the birth of their first grandchild, missed weddings and so many special occasions.

“And Fiji presents the special opportunity for people to find happiness again. To stop, reconnect, rest and be inspired.

“Fiji offers all this and we are only a few hours flying time from Australia.”

The Ministry of Health earlier this week announced its international travel conditions that overseas travellers would have to adhere to once borders reopen on December 1 for visitors.
