Cakaudrove high chief Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu is Fiji’s new president.

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka nominated him, resulting in 37 votes compared to 16 votes for Ratu Meli Tavaiqia.

Ratu Meli was nominated by Opposition leader Inia Seruiratu.
