THE former prime minister and Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) leader Sitiveni Rabuka has admitted in his caution interview that he had failed to declare all his assets, liabilities and income to the Supervisor of Elections.

Mr Rabuka’s caution interview also had an audio visual recording that was shown in court this morning as the trial entered its first day before Magistrate Jioji Boseiwaqa.

A couple of documents was also presented to Mr Rabuka during his caution interview and it summarised all his assets and liabilities, which he had failed to declare contrary to the Political Parties Act.

Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) investigating officer Alifereti Wakanivesi today told the court that Mr Rabuka was very cooperative during his interview.

He said Mr Rabuka answered freely and willingly when he was interviewed.

It is alleged that on December 29, 2017, Mr Rabuka provided a false declaration of assets and liabilities to the Supervisor of Elections by failing to provide information, namely the tax liability with Fiji Revenue and Customs Service in the amount of $316,956.20, the investment and interest income with said Raghwan Construction Ltd in the amount of $120,000.

He is also charged for allegedly breaching his bail condition.

Meanwhile, Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem is the next prosecution witness to take the stand.
