Fiji’s Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum is calling on local businesses to take advantage of their new job support scheme initiative.

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said under this new initiative, the Government would pay $2.68 an hour for the first three months of employment.

“Due to COVID-19, Government has also announced some initiative with the new job support scheme, and if you join the new join support scheme and it gets approved, Government will pay $2.68 an hour for anybody that you employ yourselves for the first three months,” he said.

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said they had received positive feedback from employers who had applied for the initiative.

“It has already been advertised. All you have to do is pay for their FNPF. We already have a number of companies that have applied. On Tuesday, we will make the announcement.”
