Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has come to the rescue of four Dawasamu Secondary School teachers who were warned of a deduction in salary if they continued to report late to school.

School principal Joeli Matea said the warning to the teachers who lived in Suva were from the Education Ministry’s Human Resources Department.

He said the first bus reached the school about 9am and the last bus left the school at 3pm.

He said this meant the teachers reached school late and also had to leave early.

Mr Bainimarama then told an Education Ministry representative there should be no deduction in the teachers’ salaries.

The issue was raised during a talanoa session with villagers from the Dawasamu area in Tailevu yesterday.
