PM opens new Lomaiviti rugby club house

Update: 8:01PM RUGBY has never been stronger or more popular in Fiji than now, says Fiji’s Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, while formally opening the new Lomaiviti Rugby Clubhouse in Raiwai, Suva today.

Mr Bainimarama said this was because of thousands of  Fijians whose hearts beat strongly with a love of rugby.

He also mentioned the young people who dream of eventually representing Lomaiviti and perhaps even Fiji, and attributed the coaches and trainers who devoted many hours to passing on their skills to each generation.

Mr Bainimarama also commended the hardworking people behind the scenes who ran clubs, catered, cleaned; and  especially the wonderful example our players set for the whole country of skill, dedication and endurance, and the way they filled our nation with pride as they set a standard on the field for the whole world to admire.

Mr Bainimarama also reminded all present at the opening, of some of the Lomaiviti Club’s most famous sons, whom he described as “national players who had made Lomaiviti what it is – a great force in Fijian rugby”. 

Players like the Naituku brothers, Samuela Saumaisue, Saimoni Rokini, Joeli Vulavou, Marika Vunibaka, Iosefo Koroiadi, Filimone Bolavucu, Nacanieli Seru, Seru Rabeni, Sisa Koyamaibole, Viliame Gadolo, Epeli Ratuniata, William Rasileka, Samisoni Viriviri, Adriu Delai, Tomasi Cama jnr of the All Blacks sevens team and the most recent Flying Fijians utility speedster, Benito Masilevu.

The Lomaiviti Club now boasts a new two storey facility with gym equipment.
