FIJI national football team captain Roy Krishna will be the flag-bearer for Team Fiji to the Samoa Pacific Games which is scheduled for July 7 to 20.

The 32-year-old who had just recently signed a contract with India based ATK football club will lead the Fiji team at the opening ceremony of the Samoa Pacific Games.

Team Fiji chef de mission Patrick Bower said as a successful sportsman, Krishna deserved to be Team Fiji’s flag-bearer.

“There were several applications that came in for the past few weeks and we have gone through all applications.

The selection criteria is based on the most successful athlete in the contingent and we believe Roy Krishna is fitting to take on the Fiji flag at the Pacific Games,” said Bower.

Team Fiji held their final assembly last Saturday where they were briefed on final requirements needed at the Games.

The team will present their i-tatau to the President this week before the first wave of athletes leave for Samoa on July 5.
