GAU Secondary School senior boys 1500m gold medalist Tobua Lewamavola was lost for words at the Coca-Cola Ovalau Zone meet in St John’s College, Levuka today.

This was the first time for Lewamavola to compete against top schools in the zone level meets.

“I am proud to be able to win a gold medal for my school because this zone was a bit tough since there are better runners from other schools.

“For Gau to be participating here for the first time is a big experience for us athletes and we are working hard to get as many medals,” said Lewamavola.

The 17-year-old thanked his parents for motivating him to take up athletics.

“My parents had always been supportive and I would like to dedicate this win to them. I will try and win a gold medal at the Coke Games as well,” he said.

Lewamavola ran a time of 4.31 minutes.
