THE leader of Opposition Sitiveni Rabuka congratulated former Fijian weightlifter Eileen Cikamatana on her recent achievements in Australian weightlifting competition
“It is a great pleasure to congratulate Eileen Cikamatana on her achievements in the interstate tournament between Queensland and New South Wales where she smashed Australian Senior and Junior records,” he said.
“She also equaled the world record in her third lift in the 81kg category of the ‘snatch.”
“As a Life Member of Weightlifting Fiji, I take great interest in the performance of all Fijian weightlifters wherever they are competing, just as I am interested and support all Fijian sportsmen and sportswomen everywhere.”
Unfortunately it is Fiji’s loss and Australia’s gain as Eileen has apparently applied for citizenship, to compete for Australia.
Rabuka added that Eileen’s extraordinary achievements at such a young age is an inspiration for the youth of Fiji engaged in competitive sports, and a source of pride for every Fijian to have Eileen continue to stamp Fiji’s mark on the world stage.
