STAKEHOLDERS of the sugar industry today commissioned a newly upgraded cane access road in the North that will benefit about 90 farmers in the area.
The Bulivou cane access road in Seaqaqa was funded by the European Union through its Reforest Fiji Project, implemented by the Pacific Community and in partnership with the Fijian Government.
In commissioning the project, Director General SPC Doctor Colin Tukuitonga said such projects empowers people and communities through reforestation and establishment of tree plantations in sugarcane belt areas in Viti Levu.
“We have also worked in close partnership with the Government to rehabilitate cane access roads in Vanua Levu,” he said.
