FIRE safety is everyone’s responsibility, says acting deputy chief fire officer Vinesh Kumar.
He said simple fire safety precautions such as not leaving the kitchen until cooking was done, and keeping all flammable materials away from cooking areas, should be strictly adhered to at all times.
The National Fire Authority issued a statement calling on all members of the community to remain vigilant after a two-bedroom house was destroyed in a fire at Vatulaulau in Ba this week.
It is believed the fire started from the kitchen.
