PACIFIC pride will be on full display today as the region crowns a new Miss Pacific Islands tonight following the Fijian Drua’s Super Rugby Pacific clash against Moana Pasifika.

The day of Pacific rivalry will see reigning Miss Pacific Islands Litara Ieremia-Allen perform the coin toss ahead of the match with the seven queen contestants watching from the stands before they vie for the coveted crown at tonight’s grand finale.

Miss Tonga Siosi’ana Patricia Taumoepeau, Miss American Samoa Tofoi Unutoa, Miss Papua New Guinea Iampela Popena, Miss Fiji Ailava Samuels, Miss Samoa Iliganoa Feagaimali’i Soti, Miss Cook Islands Petra Mataiti, Miss Kiribati Atiterentaai Rinimarawa and Miss Fiji Ailava Samuels have spent the week demonstrating that they are strong voices for Pacific issues.

The contestants’ first round of judging was on Thursday with the Research Presentations at the Tanoa International Hotel in Nadi, on topics ranging from youth empowerment and climate change to drug and crime prevention.

The week-long program included cultural exchanges, stakeholder visits, traditional ceremonies, and advocacy presentations.

Tonight’s grand finale will feature the traditional attire competition, special awards, and the crowning moment.
