Former Flying Fijians fly-half and Queen Victoria School Deans alumnus Waisea Luveniyali is convinced that the 2024 Vodafone Super Deans competition has reached new heights of intensity and challenge, surpassing the standards of previous years.
“Overall, I think the Deans competition is competitive, every year is a step up.
“This year we saw big upsets in the U18 teams. But for the semi-finals this week I think the Western teams are very good teams, they are well prepared and well coached,” Luveniyali said.
As the semi-finals loom, Cuvu College and Ratu Navula are set to square off against Nasinu Secondary School and Queen Victoria School (QVS), respectively.
The stakes couldn’t be higher, and Luveniyali believes the matches will be decided by razor-thin margins.
“Crucial decision making and every point is crucial come Saturday it’s a do or die battle.
“While Cuvu and Ratu Navula are strong, we can’t underestimate QVS and Nasinu Secondary. They’ve proven they belong here, and anything can happen.”
