A NEW champion will be crowned next week as Queen Victoria School Knights and Ratu Navula College Sea Eagles booked their spots yesterday during the Fiji Secondary School Rugby League Colin Love national semifinals.
QVS Knights beat Nasinu Secondary School Panthers 16-14 while Ratu Navula defeated Ba Pro Free Bird Institute Dragons 17-12 at the ANZ Stadium in Laucala Bay.
Queen Victoria School returns to the foreground after a massive second half comeback to secure another grand final appearance after four years.
“We have worked hard to get here, and i tip my hats off to the players,” said QVS Knights coach Josateki Savou.
After trailing 12-0 at the break Ratu Navula Sea Eagles free flowing game and hard running forwards ran in four unanswered tries in four tries and a penalty kick to the Dragons one try in the second spell clinching the match and retaining the Bati Shield for another week.
“After trailing at the half we told the players to just cool down relax and play their own game,” said Ratu Navula team manager Bale Qaranivalu.
“We are excited to meet QVS next week, a strong side as they have shown in their semifinal match against Nasinu.”
The FSSRL national grand final will be held in Garvey Park, Tavua next week.
