Asmany as 300 students still studying in tents in Vanua Levu will be back in their new classrooms by the end of 2025, according to Assistant Education Minister Iliesa Vanawalu.
Mr Vanawalu said there were funds in the budget to rebuild the three schools that were affected by cyclones.
“We are in the progress of finalising the work that is left over for us to continue for this year and 2025,” he said.
In an interview with this newspaper, Mr Vanawalu said a feasibility study of the three schools has been completed.
“Now that’s the main focus of the ministry, for the three schools to have an adequate learning area and a safe learning environment,” the minister said.
He said he could not give a definite time frame for the completion of the work.
“We are looking before the end of next year, all the children will be back in their own classrooms.”
