The Digicel Fiji Bula Boys are now shifting their focus towards their next match against New Caledonia following a thrilling 3-all draw against hosts Papua New Guinea in their FIFA World Cup Oceania Qualifier.

Despite falling behind 2-1 at halftime, Fiji showed great resilience in the second half, scoring two more goals to secure a draw.

Captain Roy Krishna, Thomas Dunn, and Merrill Nand were the goal scorers for Fiji in the match.

Coach Rob Sherman has emphasised the importance of recovery ahead of the upcoming match against New Caledonia, who currently sit at the top of the points table with six points.

“Well, its recovery predominately but we’ve been working, so we’ve worked on New Caledonia potential already, we did that in the first week of camp,” said Sherman.

“We are ready for them (New Caledonia). We’ve watched them play, obviously, but yes, it’s mostly about recovery and about what we need to do to make sure the players are fully recovered for Sunday (tomorrow).”

New Caledonia demonstrated their strength by defeating Solomon Islands 3-1, highlighting the quality of their team.

The Bula Boys will face New Caledonia tomorrow at 3pm in Port Moresby.
