THE lush highlands of Namosi will echo with reggae beats, cultural performances and riverside celebrations when the inaugural Reggae by the River Festival takes place on July 25 this year.
The festival, to be held at Namosi Eco Retreat, promises a unique blend of music, culture and nature in the heart of Fiji’s mountainous interior.
Director of Namosi Eco Retreat Danny Jason said the event was aimed at bringing people together through music while showcasing the beauty and traditions of Namosi.
“In Fiji, music isn’t something we do, it’s who we are,” he said.
“We want the Reggae by the River Festival to be more than a music festival – we want it to be a celebration of connection to the land and the people of Fiji.”
The first wave of artists announced for the event includes Laisa Vulakoro, VOU Dance Group, Rhythms Fiji, Bits n Pieces, Sojourner’s, Sweet Sensation, the Mareau Brothers and DJ Skitz.
