Nadroga conducts U19 trials

COASTAL Rental Nadroga rugby under-19 squad for 2020 had their trials yesterday at the Kalevu ground.

As another season of epic rugby competition begins, a total of 100 players turned up for the trials, however only 40 players will be selected to represent the provincial side for the upcoming Skipper Cup season.

Union president Tiko Matawalu said with the weather provided, the selectors had a good chance of selecting the best for this season.

“As defending champions for Skipper Cup U20, we feel that it’s going to be an uphill battle for us given the new format.

“However bulk of the players that turned up for the trials were former Vodafone Deans players who played for their respective schools like Queen Victoria School, Ratu Kadavulevu School and Cuvu College,” he said.

The names of the selected few will be announced later however the fourth round of the Super Rugby franchise will continue at the Ka Levu ground and it starts today and the rest of the games will be held tomorrow.
