Murder suspect remanded

A 24-year-old man who allegedly murdered an elderly caretaker in Navua has been remanded by the High Court in Suva.

Aliki Livai Tiko was charged with one count of murder and theft and appeared before judge Justice Salesi Temo.

The matter was called for first call and the State sought 21 days to file information and disclosures in the matter.

It is alleged the accused assaulted the victim and stabbed him several times before robbing him and left him in a drain where his body was discovered on February 6.

The case has been adjourned to April 13.
