A total of 19,359 students are registered to sit for the Fiji Year 8 Examination this week.
This is the first external examination scheduled for this school term.
The Ministry of Education has wished all the Year 8 students the best of luck in their exams.
Education’s Acting Minister, Alitia Bainivalu with her Assistant Minister, Iliesa Vanawalu conveyed their best wishes to all the Year 8 students for their exams.
“I extend my heartfelt best wishes to each one of you as you prepare for your external examination. This examination will not only be a medium to test your knowledge and skills but will also be a testament of your hard work, commitment and perseverance,” Ms Bainivalu said.
“Exam preparation can be a combination of emotions, excitement, and anticipation, but I wish to remind all Year 8 students to have faith in what you have studied and remember that this examination is just a part of your educational journey.
“You will encounter numerous challenges on your path to success and must remain steadfast with your dedication and effort towards your studies.”
She requested that all parents, guardians and teachers provide the necessary support to help students stay focused during this examination period.
Mr Vanawalu in his message urged students to continue to trust their abilities and to believe in themselves.
“Stay calm and remain confident. I urge all the Year 8 students to be resilient and determined during the examination,” he said.
“I also take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to all the hard-working teachers, head of schools, support staff, parents and guardians for their invaluable support, dedication, and commitment in preparing our students for this important phase of their academic journey.”
The Year 8 exam started yesterday and will end on September 26.
Also last week an external examination dedication service was held at the FMF Gymnasium in Suva.
Ms Bainivalu delivered her keynote message to the students, teachers, head of schools and senior officials that were present.
“Education plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of our country and it is not merely about imparting knowledge, but it is about empowering individuals to realise their full potential, pursue their passion, and contribute meaningfully to society,” she said at the dedication service.
“Students, as you approach your external examinations, I take this opportunity to commend you all for your hard work, dedication, commitment and perseverance throughout your academic journey.
“These external exams represent an important milestone and I, with your parents and guardians and your dedicated teachers have full confidence in your ability to succeed.”
She concluded her address with two Bible verses: Psalm 121 – verse 2 “My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth” and Isaiah 41:10 “So do not fear, for I am with you, do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand”.
