A total of 64 cyclone-related deaths were recorded in Fiji from 2007 to 2019.

This was highlighted by the Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development on its official social media page today.

It stated that of those deaths, 26 were drowning-related incidents, with 17 of the drowning victims from the Western Division alone.

While officiating at the launch of the National Disaster Awareness week in Ba yesterday, Minister for Disasters Management Inia Seruiratu said since 2010, nine cyclones had struck the Fiji Islands.
