MEDICAL students attending the Nadi-based Umanand Prasad School of Medicine and Health Sciences (UPSMHS) could soon have training access to the 130-bed Pacific Specialist Healthcare (PSH) Hospitals in Nadi.
The hospital’s acting dean Dr Abhijit Gogoi, who was a guest at the Pacific Specialist Healthcare (PSH) Hospitals’ corporate social and “know your hospital” event last week, acknowledged the world-class facilities available in the tourism capital of Fiji.
“I am so impressed with what I have seen,” Dr Gogoi said.
“This is the first private hospital with so many modern facilities under one roof and we are now in talks with PSH Hospitals’ management to form an agreement to give our students access to these facilities.”
Dr Gogoi said he believes people with heart complications and other complex issues no longer need to travel to India or other countries given the availability of such services now in Fiji at PSH Hospitals.
He said the idea now was to develop some internship and training modules for UPSMHS students to get access to those world-class facilities at PSH Hospitals.
PSH Hospitals’ founder and chief executive officer Parvish Kumar said he was happy and very willing to work with UPSMHS to assist students in becoming fine medical professionals in the future.
“We are ready to support the medical school and students for the betterment of health services in Fiji and the greater Pacific community,” Mr Kumar said.
