Marist Brothers Primary School (MBPS) under-14 side looks like the in-form team in Suva Kaji Rugby as the sixth week of competition was completed yesterday at the St Marcellin Primary School in Vatuwaqa.
The side which holds one of the two challenge trophies in the boys’ under-14 grade thrashed Holy Trinity Primary School 24-0.
MBPS later went on to hand St Johns Primary School Wailoku a heavy 38-3 defeat.
Gospel Primary School also scored a big win with a 31-7 bashing of St Johns Primary School Wailoku while Assemblies of God hammered Sambula Primary School 20-nil.
In other results, Veiuto Primary School beat St Marcellin 12-5, Holy Trinity defeated Nabua Primary School 26-7, St Agnes edged Navesi 10-5 while John Wesley Primary won by default against Gospel Primary School.
The Suva Kaji president said competition continues to grow each week.
“We have seen improvements from the first week so the more games the better for us in terms of development. We are also working on upskilling our coaches, 14 of them are doing their level two right now,” president Nasoni Tuinaceva stated.
A total of 98 teams from 21 schools are part of this year’s competition.
Of the 21 schools, Yat Sen Primary School is the only new inclusion this season.
The U13 and 14 boys’ grades are playing full contact 15-a-side rugby while the girls from U12 to 14 are playing seven-a-side.
The competition will run for the next five weeks before the U13 and 14 teams are selected for the national Kaji Rugby competition.
